‘Al’maghfira / Forgiveness’ is the artist’s portrait of a still picture, ‘a mental snapshot of my brain taken in the middle of the currently unfolding events of my life. So many questions arise, what will I become ? Am I waiting for something, why isn't it happening yet? What is it even? What the fuck…’

The album is a conversation between Prophän and the voices in his head, sometimes these voices manifest themselves as a song playing in a loop, other times a raging roar. He protests, then resigns, looking for comfort in magical protection, even though it is not working any more. Truths have unfolded, making his whole world crumble and fall apart. The rage builds up, entering the most primitive mode, by following his instincts and attacking on sight. Then, a state of peace and quiet. Serenity. He turns outwards, looking for beauty in life, looking for God, some kind of protection. Al’maghfira evokes beautiful sorcery entwined with chaotic times, conveying its melancholic emotions into grim electronics. In these industrial and tribal signatures, you will hear the nuanced elements of forgiveness.

Prophän is the solo electronic music project of Othman Cherradi, based in Paris and previously in Casablanca. Cherradi runs the experimental techno label Rhadâb and is the co-founder of Mindless, a series of live events, podcasts and radio broadcasts. He acknowledges a wide spectrum of musical inspirations, ranging from industrial and noise to the undeniable influence of local trance-inducing musical practices and customs that surrounds him in North Africa.

I must say that this is one hell of a perfectly honed experimental electronic album from beginning to end. Everything from the sound and composition to the production has been done with great skill and i'm happy that i have this precious gem on vinyl but to save that from wear and tear i just had to have it digital too.
